Lyon Oaks Golf Course

Local History

First settled by Lewis Norton in 1830, Alonzo Sibley in 1831, and Abijah Wixom in 1832, and was first called Sibley's Corners.  It was platted and renamed by Willard C. Wixom, son of Abijah, in 1871.  John W. Knox became its first postmaster on April 10, 1872.  Incorporated as a village in 1957 and as a city in 1958.
