Enjoy a guided tour of the 230 year old operating Dutch windmill "De Zwaan" towering over the 36 acres of manicured gardens, dikes, canals and picnic areas. Windmill Island offers many attractions. The Posthouse museum is an exact architectural replica of a 14th century wayside Inn and features a 12 minute slide presentation of Windmills, The Netherlands and our "De Zwaan". During the summer, visitors delight in the old-time klompen dance performed by girls dressed in folk costumes and wooden shoes. Put your kids on our antique carousel, and let them enjoy the hand carved wooden horses and look at the beautiful paintings that decorates it all. Miniature Netherlands/Village made by the early settlers. Candle making shop. Enjoy some world famous fudge. Souvenirs shop. Listen to our antique Amsterdam street organ and learn how it works!
In the spring, over 100,000 tulips bloom, and then are replaced with annuals in the summer. We welcome you to linger amid a sea of flowers with a picnic hamper or snacks from the concession stand.
