Local HistoryEli Watson, from Jefferson County, N.Y., bought land here in 1836 and settled on it in 1837, and the township when organized was named for him. Its village was given a post office on June 30, 1869, with Artemus W. Beals as its first postmaster. Its station on the C., J. & M. Railroad was called Fisk.
