Local History

In 1851, Patrick McGlone became the first settler here, opening an inn, and the place became known as McGlone Corners.  Aaron Watrous came with a crew to begin lumbering on the Cass River in 1852, and built his mill here in 1853.  He platted the village and on December 11, 1855, became the first postmaster of Watrousville.
