Hospitals Local HistoryIts settlement preceded the township which was formed in 1837 as Hickory, renamed Alba in 1838 and Warren in 1839. George W. Corey became its first postmaster on March 19, 1840. The office was closed on December 20, 1841, but was restored with Mr. Corey again its postmaster on January 27, 1849. Incorporated as a village in 1893, the village was also known as Cottageville, but never officially. Named for General Joseph Warren (1741-1775) who fell at the Battle of Bunker Hill.
