Local HistoryFirst settled by Canadians, the families of Samuel White and Jesse Smith, both in 1836. Walker Township was organized in 1838 and this village in it was named after it. It was given a post office as Indian creek, after its principal stream, on December 30, 1847. when the Detroit, Grand Haven & Milwaukee Railroad came through in 1856 it was given a station.
