Local HistoryIn 1825, Detroit interests, led by Robert Smart, a Scot, built a mill here on the Black River in Kimball Township, but called the place Clyde Mills, after a river in Scotland (the Gazeteer 1838 calls it simply Clyde). He sold out to Ralph Wadhams, by whose name the village came to be known.
