Local History

The first platting was done by D. J. Merrill, J. W. Bryce and the Merrill heirs in 1904, and it was first known as Merrill Park.  Its change of name is attributed to C. W. Post who came here from Springfield, Illinois.

Incorporated as a city in 1952.  It was annexed to the city of Battle Creek in 1960.
