BusinessesLocal HistoryLouis Lowell entered land here in 1851. John W. Winsor built the first business, a sawmill. Erastus P. Brown, a shingle-mill owner, became the first postmaster on October 14, 1864. A station on the Toledo, Saginaw & Muskegon Railroad. Incorporated as a village in 1877.
