BusinessesLocal HistoryWhen the Alger, Smith Company began logging in the vicinity about 1882, Seney came into being. It was named for George R. Seney, of New York, a director of the first railroad from St. Ignace to Marquette. John F. Chisholm became its first postmaster on December 28, 1882.
