BusinessesLocal HistoryJudge Jefferson Morrison bought government land here in 1836. He sold part of it to Dwight & Hutchinson, of Detroit, and they platted the village. Cyprian S. Hooker became its first postmaster on March 14, 1839. The office was closed on June 24, 1841, but on February 12, 1859, the Boston post office was transferred to and renamed Saranac.
