BusinessesLocal HistoryThe government granted the land here in Madison Township to Joshua and Rebecca Thurber in 1820. The Wabash Railroad made it a station in 1881. Given a post office as Thurber, after its settlers, on September 27, 1881, with merchant William Lafayette Briggs as its first postmaster. The name was changed to Sand Creek on March 5, 1891.
