BusinessesLocal HistoryThe first government land purchase here was made by Elisha Newman in 1833, but before he took possession in 1836, other settlers had arrived. Joshua Boyer became its first postmaster on March 11, 1837. Platted by A. S. Wadsworth in 1838. Incorporated as a village in 1869.
