BusinessesLocal HistoryThe village began with a sawmill built by Eggleston & Hazleton in 1872. It was first called Clyde Center from its location in Clyde Township. It was renamed for Simeon O. Pearl in 1881, and was given a post office named Pearl on April 15, 1881, with George H. Smith as its first postmaster. A station on the Chicago & Western Michigan (now Pere Marquette) Railroad.
