State Parks and Camping in MichiganCommunity InformationMears has attractions that each guarantee hours of entertainment, one of them docile and one of them adventurous. The Oceana Historical Society Museum is located in Mears in the former home of the late Swift Lathers, a longtime local legend and publisher of the world's smallest newspaper, The Mears Newz. If you doubt that last claim, stop at the museum and take a look. You may well be astounded, but you'll certainly be instructed. Another must for the history-minded visitor is the Chadwick-Munger House located behind the courthouse on Dryden Street in Hart.Called the "Gateway to the Dunes, downtown Mears buzzes every summer weekend with the sound of dune buggies and off-road vehicles as they make their way to the ORV area of Silver Lake State Park. Running through the middle of town, Fox Road is the main street in Mears, as well as the main thoroughfare that leads to the sand dunes.
