Local HistoryJohn and James Nesbitt, natives of Ireland, bought 120 acres of government land in the area in 1834. They sold out in 1835 to Eleazer H. Keeler, and the first township election was held in his tavern. He became the first postmaster of Keelersville on November 11, 1835, with the office moved to the village of Keeler in 1856 and renamed Keeler on May 26, 1892.
