Local HistorySettled in 1831 and 1833 by John Blair and Daniel Driskel and their families. It is on Driskel Lake. The first business structure was built by H. Meskell on land owned by William D. Jones, in 1870. Mr. Jones platted the village named for him in 1875. In its early days it was also known as Jones' Crossing. Informational excerpts from Michigan Place Names, by Walter Romig, L.H.D.
