Local HistoryThis lumbering center in Lake Township was founded by Austin and William Mitchell who named it from their admiration for William Jennings Bryan. J. Frank Schryer became its first postmaster on March 18, 1883. The office operating until July 31, 1956. It was made the terminus of the Missaukee branch of the Grand Rapids & Indiana Railroad with its station named Round Lake. Now a ghost town.
