Local History

This part of Tuscarora Township was first settled in 1876 by David Smith, Jackson Corey, S. P. Hayes, M. A. McHenry and John B. Clark.  The village was founded by Floyd E. Martin who bought land here in 1878, had it surveyed in 1879 and recorded in 1880.  Named after the river which runs through it.
