Local History
While several land purchases were made here
in 1836, the first actual settlement was made by Frederick R. Luther and John
Norris in 1837. First known as Delhi, Delhi Center or Delhi Station (it is
in Delhi Township), even for a while after it was renamed by the post office
after John Holt, postmaster general, on February 10, 1860.
Now the Delhis, North Holt and Five Corners
are considered extinct and are all known as Holt.
