Local HistoryThis village began as the site of the blast furnace of the Northern Iron Company in 1860. It was founded by Charles T. Harvey (1829-1912) and named for him. A station on the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. From its location on Chocolay Creek in Chocolay Township, it was also known as Chocolay.
