State Parks and Camping in MichiganLocal HistoryFirst settled by the brothers John and H. M. Look in 1834. The settlement came to be known as Farmers Creek. In 1835, William Hart, Abraham Tunison and Charles Campbell located here and became community leaders. John Mills, Jr., became the first postmaster on May 7, 1838. Franklin Hadley, became postmaster about 1907 and for fifty years some member of the Hadley family held the office. The village was named for the Reverend Hadley.
