Local History

Organized on March 6, 1838.  Originally named Dibbleville after Clark Dibble who first settle there in 1834.

Renamed Fentonville in 1837 by William Fenton and Robert LeRoy.  William Fenton later became Lieutenant Governor of Michigan.

Incorporated as the town of Fenton in 1863.
