Local HistoryIra Case bought the first land here in 1835, but David C. Fish became the first permanent settler in 1836, his wife suggested the name in honor of their first-born son, LeRoy Fish, when the township was set off in 1837. A marsh through it caused the town sections to be called East Leroy and West Leroy. A post office in East Leroy was opened under the name Secillia on June 28, 1852. Jeremiah Drake became the first postmaster of East Leroy on December 24, 1855. The Secillia post office was renamed East Leroy in 1874.
