Frank H. Paul, Paul Family

Local History

Israel R. Hall, of Ontario County, N.Y., located 640 acres of government land here in 1835 and settled on it with his family in 1836.  Also in 1836, came Samuel Beach from Saline.  The settlement was called Hall's Corners after Joseph Hall who had a general store here, with the name, for reasons unknown later changed to California.  The town was organized in 1846.
