Local History

Named to contain the first syllable of the name of its township, Berlin.  Speculators began buying its land by 1835 and actual settlement began by 1840 with Lewis Smith, John A. Warner, and Townsend Lockwood being among the pioneers.  Also known locally as Baker's Corners.
