Local HistoryIn 1832, Luther Lincoln made the first government land purchase here. He sold to Isaac E. Crary, of Marshall, who platted the village in 1835. Reuben Fitzgerald became the first actual settler in 1833, given a post office spelled Bellvue, on May 2, 1835. It was in Calhoun County until Eaton was organized in 1837. The county seat from 1838 to 1840. It was renamed Bellevue on January 8, 1841. Incorporated as a village in 1867, named from its pleasant location.
