Local History

Mr. Bailey cut the first timber here in Casavovia Township in 1865 and named the settlement for himself.  Given a post office on October 24, 1872, with James I. Walker as its first postmaster.  Its railroad station was named County Line, being near both the Newaygo and Kent County line.
