Bear Cave

The cave is a tufa rock cave which occurred 25,000-30,000 years ago and in the cave is a boulder (Kansan boulder) believed to be several hundred thousand years old. A 40 ft winding stairway leads thru the cavern, it's about 15-ft deep, 4-6 ft wide and 10-15 ft high. The cave was part of the underground railroad for slaves, and a movie location for the 1903 "Great Train robbery." Gift shop, self-guided tours, groups should contact office.
