Local HistoryThe first town meeting was held in the home of Henry B. Ten Eyck in 1834 and on May 7 of that year he became the first postmaster. The office was closed on February 15, 1837, but was restored in the village on July 2, 1844, with Solomon Lathrop as postmaster. The village was also known as Burk's Corners and as Honeoye, after Honeoye Falls, Monroe County, NY, the boyhood home of Elisha D. Andrews who had bought 320 acres in what became Armada Township, in 1831. Incorporated as the village of Armada in 1867. Named after the township which had been named by Hosea Northup.
