Alexander Duff

Grosse Pointe, Michigan

While tracking down family genealogy I found that an Alexander duff....a forbearer...and descendant...(of unclear heritage) ...of the Duke of Fife...had settled in Detroit, and married into a prominent French family that resided in what is now Grosse Pointe.  Alexander helped establish the city of Windsor, Ontario.  (he fled the US after the revolutionary war)

Duff house in Windsor is named for him..or..Duff/Baby house after Alexander and his brother in law, Jacques Baby who took over the property in, I think, 1812.

Duff Genealogy  Duff Genealogy

This is a rough genealogy of the Duff family, omitting those members who settled in Ontario and Michigan as is often the case.

It is possible that the history folks over in Ontario would have more useful information.  Duffs moved back and forth across the river for some time.  we track continual residence in the area from this period to the current era.

Thanks
