Local HistoryThis village in the center of Winfield Township, on the Pere Marquette Railroad, was platted and recorded by Parker Merrill for David L. Easton, Nathan W. Merrill, James T. Hall and Thomas Fisk, proprietors, on July 8, 1886. Samuel M. Crandall became its first postmaster on February 5, 1887, the office operating until December 31, 1953.
