State Parks and Camping in MichiganLocal HistoryThe settlement formed around the James B. Patterson sawmill and the F. Hout general store. Mrs. Lillian Hout became the first postmaster on December 17, 1903. This Grant Township village was given a station on the Detroit & Mackinaw Railroad.
