Local History L. S. Hoxie, a native of Saratoga County, N.Y., came here in 1864, bought land and platted the village. His son, Albertus T. Hoxie, became its first postmaster on June 10, 1869. The office was later closed but has been in operation again since 1951. A station on the Chicago & Western Michigan (now Pere Marquette) Railroad.
