Local HistoryIn 1816, Ignace Morass built a sawmill here on Mill Creek; it was bought and rebuilt by James Abbott who also bought the grist mill built by Judge Zephaniah W. Bunce; the settlement around these mills here in Clyde Township was named for Mr. Abbott; Jabin Cronk became its first postmaster on May 21, 1892, the office operating until March 14, 1942.
